The last class of 2025 will be Thursday, December 11.
Our classes occur every Thursday from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
Beginners are always welcome. No partners are needed.

When class must be cancelled due to inclement weather or an unforeseeable event, members will be notified by email asap, sometimes late in the day. A cancellation notice will be posted on this website and on our Facebook page.
On Mondays The Tartan and Thistle Ann Arbor Scottish Country Dancers hold classes from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm in the sanctuary at Genesis of Ann Arbor, 2309 Packard Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48104. For more information visit: Ann Arbor Scottish Country Dancing

September 11, 2025
In our first class of the 2025-26 season, we learned three dances from the new RSCDS Book 54 – A Driving Reel (R3x32) 3C Triangular Set from the RSCDS Seattle Branch; Mark and Susie’s Jig (J8x32) 3C (4C set) from the RSCDS Perth and Perthshire Branch; and Tullynessle and Forbes Hall (S3x32) 3C set from the RSCDS Aberdeen Branch. In addition, we practiced four dances for the memorial ceremony of Griff Evans on October 26. These included: The Gentleman (S8x32) 3C (4C set); The Marquis of Lorne (S8x32) 3C (4C set); The Maids of Currie (R8x32) 3C (4C set); and EH3 7AF (J8x32) 3C (4C set).
September 18, 2025
This week we continued to learn and practice dances for the Griff Evans memorial on October 24 including Frog in the Middle (J8x32) 3C (4C set); 12 Coates Crescent (S4x32) 4C set; Bonnie Stronshiray (S8x32) 3C (4C set); and Flowers of Edinburgh (R8x32) 3C (4C set). We also practiced A Driving Reel (R3x32) 3C Triangular Set and Mark and Susie’s Jig (J8x32) 3C (4C set) from the new RSCDS Book 54. In addition, we danced The Laird of Milton’s Daughter (J8x32) 3C (4C set) and The Highland Rambler (R8x40) 3C (4C set), both of which are on the program for the Ann Arbor Ball on November 15.
September 25, 2025
In preparation for the Griff Evans memorial on October 24, we learned Muse Cottage (J3x32) 3C set and The Jubilee Jig (J8x32) 3C (4C set). For the Ann Arbor Ball, we practiced Triple Happiness (S3x32) 3C; Davy Nick Nack (R8x32) 3C (4C set); The Laird of Milton’s Daughter (J8x32) 3C (4C set); and Swashbuckling Iain (J8x32) 2C (4C set). Finally, we danced Tullynessle and Forbes Hall (S3x32) 3C set and Kathy’s Fascinator (J3x32) 3C set from the new RSCDS Book 54.

This week we continued to practice some dances from the new RSCDS Book 54 — A Driving Reel (R3x32) 3C Triangular Set and Kathy’s Fascinator (J3x32) 3C set. In preparation for the Griff Evans memorial, we practiced The Reel of the Royal Scots (R8x32) 3C (4C set) and The Gentleman (S8x32) 3C (4C set). For the Ann Arbor Ball in November, we learned Katherine Hamilton (S32) 3C (4C set), The Walled Garden (S8x32) 2C (4C set), and Petronella (R8x32) 2C (4C set). We also practiced Swashbuckling Iain (J8x32) 2C (4C set).

This week we focused on perfecting our steps to Swashbuckling Iain (J8x32) 2C (4C set); The Gentleman (S8x32) 3C (4C set); EH3 7AF (J8x32) 3C (4C set); Katherine Hamilton (S32) 3C (4C set); and Maxwell’s Rant (R8x32) 3C (4C set).
October 30, 2025
This week we danced many well-known dances including The Highland Rambler (R8x40) 3C (4C set), The Laird of Milton’s Daughter (J8x32) 3C (4C set), and City of Belfast (S3 x 32) 3C set. We practiced Katherine Hamilton (S32) 3C (4C set), A Driving Reel (R3x32) 3C Triangular Set, and Swashbuckling Iain (J8x32) 2C (4C set). We also learned a new dance entitled S-Locomotion (S4x32) 4C set, pronounced “slow commotion”.

We continued to practice and refine several dances this week including EH3 7AF (J8x32) 3C (4C set); Katherine Hamilton (S32) 3C (4C set); Triple Happiness (S3x32) 3C; S-Locomotion (S4x32) 4C; Celtic Dreaming (R3x40) 3C; and City of Belfast (S3x32) 3C set.

We practiced many dances in preparation for upcoming balls and events including Peter White (S8x32) 3C (4C set); Davy Nick Nack (R8x32) 3C (4C set); Petronella (R8x32) 2C (4C set); Katherine Hamilton (S32) 3C (4C set); EH3 7AF (J8x32) 3C (4C set); and Celtic Dreaming (R3x40) 3C.

This week we danced a variety of old and new dances. Scottish Country Dancing in Redford Township, Michigan
Introductory classes are offered through the Redford Township Leisure Services. All dance levels are welcome, and no partner or formal experience is required. Classes will run on Tuesdays at 7:00-8:30 pm from September 16 – October 14. A free class/makeup class will be held on October 21. Cost is $25 and classes will be held at the Redford Community Center located at 12121 Hemingway, Redford Township, Michigan. Winter and spring classes will be held at the Recreation & Wellness Center located at 14701 Beech Daly, Redford Township, Michigan.

November 29 – St. Andrew’s Dinner and Dance – London, Ontario
Come and celebrate the patron saint of Scotland and get ready for the holiday season with good food, good friends and a great evening of dancing. Live music will be provided by Scotch and Soda. The reception is at 5:30pm followed by dinner at 6:30pm and the dance. This event will take place at the Polish Combatants’ Hall 80 Ann Street, London, Ontario.
